Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate - what exactly is it?
Many products in our store are Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified for textile products; finished products (e.g. shoes) or semi-finished products (e.g. materials); which do not contain substances dangerous to human health. It guarantees that the products marked with it are completely free of harmful or potentially harmful substances (ie prohibited and controlled by law and those with known harmful effects).
STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certificate, and thereby the CONFIDENCE IN TEXTILES title, has been granted since 1992 all over the world. It was created on the initiative of the Österreichische Textil-Forschungsinstitut (ÖTI) and the Forschungsinstitut Hohenstein, and these organizations set its criteria.
Certificates are issued by 14 Institutes located in Europe and Japan. They are granted by members of the International Association for the Research and Development of Textile Ecology, OEKO-TEX® (Gemeinschaft für Forschung und Prüfung auf dem Gebiet der Textilökologie). In Poland, the Institute of Textiles Engineering in Łódź, which became a member and at the same time the only legal representative of the OEKO-TEX® Association in our country is entitled to grant this designation.
What requirements do the products have to meet to get the STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® certificate?
There are over 100 test criteria that must be fulfilled for the product to be considered compliant with Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 standards. To be certified, the products are subjected to a series of tests carried out in specialized laboratories.
Examined are not only the parameters concerning the impact on human health through direct contact with the skin, but also the risk of harmful substances entering the body through inhalation or through saliva. The products must be tested at every stage of production. It is worth mentioning that in order to receive the Oeko-tex Standard 100 certificate you must meet ALL required criteria. There are no half measures in this case, which guarantees high quality.
Certified textiles must be deprived of, among others: pesticides, chlorophenols, formaldehyde, carcinogenic and allergenic dyes, forbidden azo dyes and extractable heavy metals.
Both the shoes we sell under the Fairma Ethical Design brand and the products of other companies in our store include Oeko-tex certified microfiber.
