People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals - PETA is an American non-profit animal rights organization which has 400 employees, it claims that it has 6.5 million members and supporters, and is probably the largest animal rights group in the world.
Its slogan is "Animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, use for entertainment, or abuse in any other way. The group and their methods are full of controversy and are often facing waves of criticism. But that is not what we are going to talk about today.
PETA Approved Vegan logo means that the product was produced without using any animal-derived components, for example leather, wool, down, but also these less obvious like glues or dyes. It is not given to each product though – what is signed is the brand. It gives you assurance that all products made by this brand are 100% vegan.
How do you get it?
To get a certificate you have to go through a questionaire first. Next step is checking your providers and factories and making sure that there are no animal-derived substances in use. In our case we had to contact textile providers and factories which produce shoes for us, mainly to make sure they are not using glues which might often turn out not to be vegan. After checking and providing all these informations you might get PETA certificate.
As a brand certified by PETA we guarantee, that we check our providers best we can, so you can trust us and be sure that shoes you buy here are 100% vegan!
