Slow fashion is a movement promoting conscious and responsible consumer fashion choices. To simplify we can say it stands in opposition to “fast” fashion that relies on globalized, mass production methods where items are designed, produced, sold, and then discarded at a rapid pace - usually within a few weeks.
Slow fashion means buying less but high quality products. The quality and health safety is very often proved by various certificates. Conscious consumer choices belong to the process. As Vivienne Westwood wisely said: “Buy less, choose well and mix it all.”
Slow fashion changes the definition of luxury. It’s now a consciousness of our choices – choosing options that has the least possible environmental impact. It brings peace of mind when you know that your choice didn’t harm any living being. With this approach we can make ethical choices for a better world.
