We are constantly looking for new, more sustainable fabric options for our vegan shoes and accessories. And we have to say it is not an easy research.
Most of such options are still work in progress, others contain a really tiny percentage of sustainable additives and the rest is hard to buy or pretty expensive, so not many would afford shoest made of them.
In these circumstances we are quite happy to share this news with you!
This Autumn - Winter collection is going to include shoes with new BIOECO lining!
BIOECO is a textile made from corn fiber (60%) and recycled PET (40%).
How corn fibers are obtained?
1. Harvest of the corn plant – obviously!
2. Extraction of the corn glucose
3. Fermentation - sugar to monomer
4. Polymerization - conversion from monomer to polymer
5. Obtaining of the fibers - non-woven technology
Thanks to thic combination BIOECO delivers the same technical performance as our standard microfibre with a smaller environmental footprint. It's very absorbing, dries fast keeping feet in optimal environment, it's very durable, breathing and also has Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certificate meaning that it is free from harmful substances = antiallergic! And vegan of course!
